43 inches tall, about 22 inches wide. Dark wood that looks like mahogany or rosewood.
I was told it is from 1920’s and American made.
Good morning, Evan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I can't quite make out what the inscription on the tag reads. It likely won't make much difference to the appraisal value but to be thorough I should know what it says.
Thanks!
Delia
No worries; I suspected as much but had to ask.
I think this could be earlier than the 1920s, maybe as old as 1900...safe to say "early 20th Century"
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Colonial Revival carved oak and walnut open armchair
American, early 20th Century
The arched crest over rectangular splat, the downcurving arms raised on inverted trumpet turned supports, over a trapezoidal slip seat, raised on trumpet-turned front legs and squared back legs joined by an H-stretcher.
43 inches tall, about 22 inches wide
PROVENANCE: acquired at a tag sale
CONDITION: appears to have been in storage for quite some time, with dust etc but otherwise in good condition
$200-300*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Thanks
Hi,
I couldn’t make it out either and I don’t think it has anything to do with the chair, but I wasn’t sure so figure to include it. It might just be the tag from the estate sale.
