Trumpet serial number is 198579. It still is functional. But does has some wear and tear on it. Some scratches inside the end of the horn from “the mute” that came with the trumpet. Also has one dent in it. Also one of the ivory key tops is missing from the middle key.
Before my parents bought this for me in 1998 for musical class in school, it was owned by a military member who used it for a military band at Camp Lejune.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a King Tempo II 601 Trumpet with a silver 5c mouthpiece and trumpet mute. King introduced the Tempo model in 1962, and was considered a student to intermediate-level instrument. This piece was manufactured post-1985, as Conn-Selmer reset serial numbers at that time.
According to the current owner, the piece was acquired in 1998. The piece features a serial number of 37-198579 and is accompanied by what appears to be the trumpet's original hard case.
Condition of the trumpet based on photographs shows light lacquer wear and scratching and a missing ivory key top. The trumpet also has a moderate dent in the tubing.
Based on recorded sales of comparable trumpets in similar condition in need of restoration, Fair Market Value is estimated at $30 to $60, as the piece is assumed to be in need of repair for the dent at a minimum. In good to excellent used playing condition, the expected value would be closer to $200.
