1939 German Luger Pistol. I was told it was brought back from Germany during WW2. Comes with an old leather holster but I am not sure if that is original (it may be, I just dont know). It seems to be military issued from my research as it is marked S/42.
This item belongs to my neighbor. His wife's father brought this gun back from his service in WW2 and it has been in their family collection since 1942. He is a collector of valuable items and is a wealthy man so I believe it is authentic.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. This Luger P08 was manufactured in 1939, as evidenced by the date on the chamber. The S/42 code on the toggle is the manufacturing code for the Mauser factory. The pistol is in excellent condition, with all matching serial numbers. There is no significant damage present or corrosion on the metal. The finish has some light wear consistent with its age and use. The holster appears to have been made custom for the gun at a later date, and is not a military holster. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 2,500-2,700 dollars. Please reach out with any questions.
