1970 was the year the AFL and NFL combined into one league with conferences; it was also the last year the team was known as the Boston Patriots as they reorganized as the New England Patriots in 1971; it was also their last year playing at Fenway Park as they moved to their own stadium in Foxborough. The year wasn't a good one for the team and they finished with a 2-12 record to be the worst in the league. It was a low point in franchise history.

Because it was the team's last year with the original name and at the park where'd they'd played since 1963 so collectibles from that era can be hard to find and sought after by Boston sports fans.

The Patriots have kept this classic look for may of their jackets, which can retail for between $200 and $500 depending on condition. Older, vintage examples in good shape typically retail between $400 and $600, though at auction they don't bring quite as much, usually in the $125-175 range.
