Raw Amber Stone
Unknown origin/ excavation region
Unknown age
Amber is a rich content of fossilized natural botanic resins and hydrocarbons; varying in color from yellow to brown or reddish brown; and is often transparent. Frequently it contains bits of plant material or fossil insect inclusions, some dating as far back as 120 million years ago. Amber has long been honored for its energetic and healing properties. Sections of this size are an excellent example of a deep, translucent, brown to cherry color with natural properties. These sections appear glass-like and may have had some surface polishing. True Amber stone is buoyant and can be found floating in heavily salient waters. Amber has a hardness that ranges from 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs Scale; this section has not been evaluated. An evaluation could assist in identifying the source of excavation; yet a significant change from this price evaluation would be marginal. The entire lot has been weighed to 190 grams. Largest section is 165 grams and sized: 125mm x 75mm. Smaller section weighs 25 grams with a measurement 50mm x 40mm.
