Good morning, Laura,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Is "North Wind" the name of the manufacturer of these chairs? Are you referring to the face mask carved into the back of the chair?
Thanks!
Delia
Got it, thanks for clarifying!
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A pair of Continental carved walnut side chairs
Second half 19th Century
Each with a masque-carved crest over inset-upholstered backs, the over-upholstered seats raised on front legs carved with paw feet.
39 inches overall height; 20 inches greatest width (at front of seat)
CONDITION: not examined in person but chairs appear to be in good condition commensurate with age and use. Upholstery is replaced though the chairs retain their original sprung seats and underpinnings.
