What does this mean?

Hi Harpreet,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

Mearto's appraisers aren't able to AUTHENTICATE the signatures or photo-match this game-worn jersey to a particular game (that would require an in-person examination by a third-party service, such as PSA, Beckett or James Spence Authentication), but if we assume the signatures are authentic, we can provide some context into how this jersey would be evaluated.

The 2011 Boston Bruins are one of the most celebrated teams in franchise history because they ended a 39-year Stanley Cup championship drought, defeating the Presidents' Trophy-winning Vancouver Canucks in seven games to capture Boston's sixth Stanley Cup and first since 1972.

The Bruins defeated the heavily favored Canucks, who had finished with the NHL's best regular-season record. Boston rallied from a 2-0 series deficit and won Game 7 in Vancouver, 4-0.

Tim Thomas produced one of the greatest playoff performances by any goaltender, posting a .940 save percentage during the playoffs and winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. He set NHL playoff records for 798 saves in a single postseason and 238 saves in one Stanley Cup Final, and became the first goalie to record a Game 7 road shutout in a Stanley Cup Final.

Captain Zdeno Chara, playing through injuries, anchored one of the NHL's stingiest defenses and became the first Slovak captain to lift the Stanley Cup. Veterans such as Mark Recchi, in the final game of his Hall of Fame career, provided invaluable experience, while Patrice Bergeron emerged as one of hockey's premier two-way centers.

The championship established the nucleus that would define Boston hockey for more than a decade, including Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Krejci, Chara, and Milan Lucic. Marchand, then a rookie, scored five goals in the Stanley Cup Final, tying the NHL record for a rookie in the championship series.

The market for game-worn hockey jerseys has both depth and breadth, with auction results capped at $1.45 million paid in 2022 for Wayne Gretsky's 1988 Stanley Cup Final Edmonton Oilers jersey.

A team-signed jersey is valued primarily for the completeness and quality of the autograph set, while a game-worn jersey is valued for its direct connection to on-ice action. When the jersey is both game-worn and team-signed, it becomes an elite collectible.

Individual-player signed, Stanley Cup game-worn jerseys have sold publicly many times, but entire-team-signed Stanley Cup Final game-worn jerseys are exceptionally uncommon, with no well-documented public auction comparables readily available

A 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins jersey signed by the entire team was offered in an online charity auction conducted through Cornell University Athletics in early 2012 but the final hammer price has not been published online).

Looking at other team-signed jerseys, in 2014, an Anaheim Ducks team-signed Stanley Cup jersey offered by SCP Auctions sold for $756, the same price Grey Flannel Auctions got for a 2010 Chicago Blackhawks team-signed Stanley Cup jersey. Heritage Auctions sold a team-signed Red Wings jersey signed by more than 20 members of the back-to-back Cup champions for $717 in 2009. More recently, in 2024, Heritage Auctions realized $660 for an New York Islanders dynasty-era reunion signed jersey. It's important to note that none of these prices are for game-worn jerseys, which adds a significant premium

Assuming the signatures on this jersey are correct, one of the best auction houses for sporting collectibles such as this would probably estimate this in the low five figures, but it's impossible to say what this might ultimately sell for...with the right marketing, this could reach six figures.
