I have a 38 w.c.f that was patent sept 19 1871 July 2 1872 Jan. 19 1875 serial # 256764 Colt P.T.F.A. MFG Co. Hartford. CT. U.S.A the gun is in great condition especially for its age everything moves as it should. I fired a 38 cal bullet thru it and egh shot ok , I noticed later the bullet wasn't right for it , Am told it takes a 41 cal. Not sure exactly.
