It was made for my mother in the 1970's from a friend who was a violinist in a Hungarian quartet in Mexico City. He quit the quartet and did archeology through South America selling pieces to different museums during the 1940's through 60's. I inherited it and took it to the International Gemological appraisal service in Scottsdale Az to look at it because she was already appraising another piece of jewelry. She did not appraise it, but she has extensive knowledge in pre-columbian artifacts. She did tell me that it is definitely Aztec and Olmec, with jade and jadeite. It is in excellent condition, I have it stored so it stays intact. I would like to sell it, and she thought it would be worth between $2500 and $4500. I'd like your opinion, but not sure I want to auction it unless it is quick and it fetches what it's worth.
Length is approximately 13" from clasp to pendant which is supposedly a ceremonial and sacred stone.
