James Michener sponsored the wood block print competition in approximately 1961 or 1960. The result was 510 copies of each of the wood block prints. They were assembled by print number in 510 books. The books were then sold true Total publishers in New York, Tokyo, etc. This set of 10 prints is number 158 out of the 510 all in original sleeves and the book is encased in a wooden slip case.
