What does this mean?

Hi Phil,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

Gold China, a Japanese porcelain manufacturer that was active primarily in the post-World War II era (1950s–1970s). Gold China was one of several Japanese porcelain factories (including Noritake) producing dinnerware and giftware after the war, when exports from Japan to the U.S. surged under occupation and later trade agreements.

Gold China services are not very collectible at auction and rarely exceed between $3-5 PER piece, though because you have a largely uniform number of pieces, I've rounded up a bit.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage 59-piece Gold China parcel silver gilt part dinner service
in the "Elegance" pattern, made in Japan, circa 1950s, comprising:
(8) dinner plates (10-1/2")
(8) salad plates (6-1/2")
(8) soup bowls (7-1/2")
(8) salad or fruit bowls (5-3/4")
(11) coffee cups with (7) saucers (6")
(1) covered coffee pot (40 oz)
(1) cream pitcher
(1) covered sugar bowl
(1) gravy or sauce boat (16 oz)
(1) covered butter dish
(1) serving platter (12")
(1) mixing bowl (9-1/4")
(2) salt & pepper shakers
CONDITION: This service appears to be in good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 200-300 for the service*
