This Buddha is approximately 6 feet tall and at least 150 lbs. It was supposedly carved from a single piece of wood- but the hands are "loose" so I don't think they were carved from the same piece, but not sure. I'm also not sure what kind of wood it is.
Purchased by the person who donated it to our organization to sell in a silent auction. She had him for at least 15 years.
Dear Amy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a sculpture made out of tropical wood with the measurements of 6 feet in height. The statue depicts a standing buddha with raised arms. This piece was made in Thailand, Vietnam or Indonesia in the second half of the 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 500 to 1.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
