This painting appears to depict Shah Jahan at his royal court greeting visitors. The painting is in excellent condition. I bought it at a small shop run by a company that conducts estate sales. I have no knowledge of its provenance. I believe the painting is an original Mughal miniature. Based on the subject matter, I think it probably dates from sometime before 1650. I base this on the quality of the painting, the general painting technique and the paper used.
