Description

A sword carried by Johann Nepomuk Egger in the years 1813-1816. Egger was a forest ranger During the years Bavaria was allied with Napoleon who became an UnderLieutenant in the Rezat Battalion of the Bavarian Volunteer Jaeger Corps after Bavaria switched sides. The scabbard contains a lengthy inscription: "This sword carried during the German War of Liberation from November 1813 until winter 1815 by Johann Nepomuk Egger, Underlieutenant in the volunteer Jaeger Battalion of the Rezat District." Sword has accompanying documentation from the Bavarian State Archives about Egger and the service of the Battalion.
