Metal. Dimensions in Centimeters. Height: 23, Width: 9, Depth: 8
It was a gift inherited by my uncle who lived in Nigeria. It was brought to Europe in the 60s probably acquired from Nigeria or Ghana. Besides an appraisal I would like to have as much information as possible regarding its nature (e.g. tribe, ritual use, links to sites with similar items etc).
Dear Jim,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a metal cast figurine with measurements of 23 x 9 x 8 inches. The white metal cast depicts an African tribal mask but was made in the second half of the 20th century. It follows the traditions of the Akan or Ahanbti tribes in Ghana
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 60 to 120 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
