Hi Robert,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This clock is a traditional porcelain model Random Clock Company was a unique manufacturer known for its quirky, avant-garde timepieces that broke traditional clock-making norms. Based in the mid-20th century, the company gained a cult following for its unconventional designs, often featuring abstract shapes and unpredictable functionality. Their clocks were more art pieces than mere instruments for telling time, combining form and function with a touch of whimsy. Though not widely known today, Random Clock's innovative approach left a lasting impact on clock design.
The date of Aug 6th 1895 is the date the movement was patented, it is not the date of this clock.
Other Ansonia-type clocks with original works only bring fairly modest values when auctioned - nearly all for less than $100. With a replaced battery-powered movement, this would have even less value: $50-75.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintate Random Ansonia style porcelain mantle or shelf clock
mid 20th Century
The peaked case with stylized acanthus decoration and gilt accents enclosing a copper dial with Roman numeral chapter rings, now with a modern battery-powered dial.
10 inches high, 11 inches wide, approximately 5 inches deep
CONDITION: This cloak appears to be in generally good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 50-75*

The clock case is made by Random as shown and confirmed in one of my uploaded pictures that shows the name “Random” printed on the back rear side of the clock directly above an orange red sticker. Also as stated in my original email the original internal clock mechanism is not there and had been replaced by a working battery operated clock mechanism. This does work with an easy battery replacement.
Kind regards
Robert
