She appears to have a muslin body. Her face and hands are made of something else, however I can't tell what. Her eyes do not move. Her legs rotate at the hips. She has a very long what looks like a christening gown on with a hood. I see no markings on her body to tell her maker. She has socks that come all the way up her legs.
I inherited this from a friend of mine who also inherited this doll from a friend of hers 30 years ago who passed away at the age of 104
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a cute baby doll. Such dolls are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The doll is made in the same style as an antique babydoll would have been made, however your doll is not antique. It is what you would call an artist doll made for collectors. The dolls complexion and the way the eyelashes are painted are different from what you would see on an antique baby doll. The way the body and hands are made also indicates that the doll was made during the late 1900s or early 2000s. This type of doll was made in many numbers and today they rarely have value beyond their purchase price even when kept in excellent shape.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the babydoll has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the doll. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
