Antique Belgium 3-section, 5' tall, folding screen. Each section is framed in decorative metal fastened with upholstery tacks. The sections have three separate hand-painted multi-colored panels depicting a variety of subjects. Each is outlined with a narrow band of gold leaf. The panels are connected with full length leather hinges.
I purchased this folding screen nearly 30 years ago from an antique shop in Beverly Hills. It has been a cherished piece in my home. I am downsizing now and moving to a smaller home.
This is a vintage early to mid 20th century decorative 3-panel folding screen, room divider or privacy screen, with 9 hand painted folk art style vignettes that is attributed to being from Belgian, however not marked such (or any country of origin marks not shown in the photos here). This is a one-of-a-kind country crafted piece as the panels are all original paintings, not prints or mass produced copies. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
