Relative was a friend of the Kaufmann family of Pittsburgh (Kaufmann Department Stores / Fallingwater). Over the years she acquired various gifts from the family. Not sure where the Asian artifacts came from other than she was told they were from a temple and brought home from abroad and given to her.
Hi Lynne,
This piece is similar to the other Buddha head I appraised. I am looking at the shape of the headdress, the raised surface of the eyebrows, the shape of the profile, the size of the snail coil "hair". Though there are differences (size, shoulders included, more wear), the valuation would be roughly the same. Please let me know if you have any questions.
