Hello Richard,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the confusion and delay of your appraisal. The item presented appears to be a copy painting after an original work by Jacopo Tintoretto (Italian, 1519-1594) titled "Portrait of a Venetian Senator." The original painting was completed in 1580 and is now held in the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland (link below).

The work does appear to be signed by the copy artist. The signature appears to read, "George Spriggs." The name is not one of a listed artist after search several databases. Based on the images, the canvas appears to date to the mid-20th century.
In today's market, a fair market value estimate for this work would fall in the range of $500 - 3,000, depending on condition and paint quality. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of other comparable copy paintings and print after works by Tintoretto, depending on size and quality of execution. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
