What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The item appraised is a carved Chinese inkstone box, used for the grinding and containment of ink. The exterior of the box depicts a lady in traditional dress in a recumbent posture. The interior of the box has a slight inset well, for the containment of the ink. The condition of the inkstone suggests that it is not particularly old. These are quite abundant in the marketplace and the demand is for inkstones from antiquity. Inkstones produced in the past two centuries are less desirable.

Kind regards,
Corey
