What does this mean?

This is a pair of Asian brass base metal and enameled vases. The decorative style, using metal wiring with colored enamels within the wired receptacle areas is referred to as 'cloisonne'. These have raised wires with recessed areas of enamel, which is a slightly different variant of enamel work referred to as 'champleve'. Stylistically, these appear to be Japanese made and not Chinese; without a country of origin stamp or label where it was made cannot be definitively stated. These are vintage 20th century. Technically, by definition in the U.S. an 'antique' is any object 100 years old and older; this pair was produced less than 100 years ago at present. The estimate is for the pair together and is based on actual past recorded auction sales of comparables and presumes these stand under 8" tall each.
