Hello,
The object under review is a porcelain vase decorated in the Famille Verte palette, measuring approximately 18.5 inches tall and 8 inches wide at its widest point. Famille Verte (meaning “green family”) refers to a style of decoration developed during the Kangxi period (1662–1722) of the Qing Dynasty, distinguished by its use of translucent green enamels alongside iron red, yellow, blue, and aubergine. The decoration features detailed floral and bird motifs within shaped panels, set against a dense dark-green ground, a classic characteristic of Famille Verte design. This technique was highly prized for its vibrancy and technical complexity, often associated with imperial and export-quality wares.
Based on the photos, the vase appears to be in excellent condition with no visible cracks, chips, or restoration. The colors are vivid, and the painting is precise, indicating skilled craftsmanship. However, considering the bright enamel tones, glaze finish, and the mark visible at the base (which seems to be an apocryphal mark rather than an authentic period mark), it is most likely a high-quality 20th-century reproduction rather than a Kangxi original. Many excellent Famille Verte revival pieces were produced during the late Republic Period (1912–1949) and continue to be valued by collectors for their beauty and craftsmanship.
