Description

1800s Franklin cherry wood secretary desk with glass doors bookcase. It has all original hardware and keys. The glass is original distressed glass.

Provenance

It was handed down to me from my parents and to them from my fathers parents in Crestline Ohio. They purchased it back in early 1900s in Ohio.

Thank you very much for the dimensions. I assume that the name "Franklin" refers to the place where it was made? There is one school of thought that regional furniture generally does better selling at auction within that region; the idea being that collectors tend to be locally based. Of course, the cost of shipping can outweigh the value of a piece so that is always a consideration.

PROVENANCE: acquired by paternal grandparents in Ohio circa 1900
