Dear Laura,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal
The presented object appears to be a French Imperial Model 1829 artillery sword for a trooper. The blade is marked that it was produced in the manufacture of Chatellerault in the year 1852. The simply designed handle was made out of brass and the blade out of steel. Wide, curved, single-and false-edged blade with large fuller, the base signed and it comes with a scabbard.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 220 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
