Length overall (with scabbard) is 37". Blade is 27.5" in length. Scabbard appears to be skin (possibly snake). Four character markings on blade (see images). There are also 6 (copper or brass) star shaped inlays in blade.
Sword was inherited from family who likely visited China in the 1920's.

This appears to be a chinese jian sword The double edged straight blade with brass inlaid star decoration, the cord wrapped grip with taotie decorated brass guard and pommel, the green shagreen scabbard with matching antiqued brass fittings, the blade inscribed 子泉監鑄. The estimate is based on similar sold at auction. Prices in the trade are ususally higher and can vary.
