Good afternoon, Stephen,
Thank you for using Mearto for your appraisal inquiry. This form of furniture has fallen out of favor with collectors in recent years. The term “Lincoln” is one of several forms American rocking chairs have taken over the years, with comfort being the primary driver of value.
If you’d like this appraisal to include exact dimensions, please send me, in inches, the following: height overall (measured from the floor to the top of the back), the width (measured from the outside of the arms) and the depth (the length, front to back, of the rockers).
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An American carved walnut or mahogany “Lincoln” style rocking armchair
Late 19th Century
Approximately 42 inches high
CONDITION: not examined in person but appears to be in good condition with wear commensurate with age and use. Top upholstery possibly replaced; some fading to surface visible.
PROVENANCE: inherited
