Bought in 2006 for $2000 in a shop as a mid 1800’s Mahogany Scottish Chest. 6 drawers. Top drawer is hidden behind trim work. Bottom drawer is deep going to bottom of bottom trim. About the size of a blanket chest. Mother of pearl centered in knobs and bone(?) inlay surrounds key holes. No key. Very solid piece with wear consistent with age. I get conflicting values when I have researched, that vary greatly.

This is a late 19th century, Victorian era, Empire style dresser with bone inlay at the keyholes and center of drawer pulls. The wood, in the images appears to be mahogany, though the Scotland attribution, unless maker marked, tagged or labeled cannot be definitively stated. This is more in the vein of American Empire style and the bone inlay is an Anglo-Indian influence. Unfortunately, this style of furniture is slumped on the market currently and does not sell for as high as they did a few decades ago. Your purchase price was a retail price. The estimate is based on actual recorded recent past auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary
