This is a scale model ( 5.5"x 7" x 6" high) It was used by travelling salesmen to explain and show the details of the full size tables for sale . It has beautiful inlaid wood
My grandmother purchased the furniture from an antique dealer in Cape Town South Africa. Its origins are either British or French.
Hi Denny,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
What does the label on the underside of the table say? Can you take a photograph of it and attach it to this appraisal inquiry?
Thanks!
Delia
Thanks for the photograph. When I saw the other pieces that you'd submitted for appraisal, I was able to identify that it was not a maker's label. See my appraisal above.
Hi Denny,
I see from the rest of the photographs of the other miniature pieces you've submitted appraisal inquiries for, that the label refers to the British Antique Dealers Association and doesn't refer to the maker as I had hoped it would.
Based on this, and subject to examination, this is:
A miniature William and Mary style inlaid walnut tavern table
British, late 18th Century
The inlaid top with molded edge raised on four barley-twist legs joined by an X-stretcher; underside bears circular label from The British Antiques Dealers Association
6 inches high, top 7 inches long by 5 1/2 inches deep
PROVENANCE: inherited from grandmother
$200-300*
