I know it's a Bakhara pattern, and supposedly of Persian origin, and about 100 years old when my father purchased it 1980, making it approximately 144 years old, but who knows it could be a Pakistani or Turkish rug, I have no idea. Now as far as damage, there are runners on both the non-tassel sides, that have begun to separate approximately 1 inch in width and several inches long, on one side it does run up to where the tassels start but I just tuck them under, and I can't tell.
