This is an excellent condition bench. It's wooden and the seat is cloth and the back rest is cloth also. The detail in the lions on the back and the arm rests are amazing.
I don't know anything about it, got it at an estate sale. Looking for value, sadly it was broken during a recent move so I'm looking for replacement value for an insurance claim. Picture is the only one I have prior to it being broken.
This is an antique, later 19th century, about 1885, Victorian era, Renaissance Revival style 3 oval back settee. It has 3 pierced cut or reticulated Gothic influenced arched backs with a pseudo-crest and barley twist stiles and stretcher bars with arms terminating in carved lion's heads and upholstered seat, backs and arms. Renaissance Revival style was a popular decor motif in the late 19th century through to the 1930's. Without a maker name of label who produced this and where cannot be definitively stated, this could range from French, English, Italian or American made. Generally, this would have also come as a set with a matching men's and women's chair. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
