91/2 inch long handle. This looks like the hilt of a sword. Wrapped in leather Unsure of what sort of metal it is.
My grandfather found this when digging his garden in the early 60’s.
Dear Elaine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a sword handle of a replica or modern sword. It was made out of iron and a brass or bronze decoration with a lion protom at the end of the handle. The raw connection between the handguard and the handle itself is another hint that this is a modern replica.
This piece is in bad condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 0 to 10 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
