Antique table clock
Family heirloom from Germany
This is an antique, Victorian era, late 19th century, circa 1885, mantel clock. It is made of black slate marble, a veined black marble, gilded metal and ormolu mounts. The carved design in the stone at the base is "Eastlake" style decoration that helps place the age of the clock. Without images of the backside to see marks on the works nor a name on the clock face, where this was produced and by whom cannot be definitively stated. The style is similar to 'Adamantine' clocks by Seth Thomas. The estimate is based on this being an antique Eastlake marble mantle clock in working condition by unknown maker and utilizes past recorded auction sales of comparables.
