Tibetian Tara Figurine is part of late grandfather's private collection. Figurine appears to have remains of gold gilt and infact comes in 2 parts. The base and the figurine is detachable (attachable with 2 short cylindrical device) –with the base having a flower symbol carving on the bottom plate. Good condition and no visible damage except for visible declination of gold gilt layer. The inner layer upon some abrerassion and careful removal of uppermost layer reveals brownish pink which led us to conclude it is bronze, also factoring the weight. The item presented appears to be a sculpture depicting a standing Tara figure presented on a lotus flower base. The object appears to be painted and gilt brass or bronze and there is a floral hallmark to the underside. The hallmark indicated that the work is from Shakya Statues Trade. The manufacturer of the object is from Nepal and are a dealer for artisans in the area. They are produced as decorative work for western trade. The company offers their item on ebay for asking or retail prices and these prices greatly differ from the resale or auction estimates of the same items. The estimate provided is based on the recent auction estimates and results of comparable items produced by Shakya Statues Trade rather than the company's asking prices on ebay.
