What does this mean?

Dear Sol,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The appraised item is an abstract painting by the Peruvian artist called Arcadio Boyer (b. 1945). It is signed on the lower right and the size of this work appears to be quite small. It is housed in a gold guilt frame and the condition is good overall.

Boyer’s stylistic characteristics can be found here in your painting such as his earthy and his overwhelming tones of red, yellow and green. In a unique way, his particular brush-strokes help him to shape objects from everyday life (watermelon slices here.)

The estimate highlighted in red above is based on comparables offered and sold at auction in the last five years. The subject work’s size, the composition, condition (based on photographs provided), as well as the artist’s current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate.

Best regards,

Karine
