Amber satin/frosted "art deco" vase with swirl through the amber glass. Weight is 10 pounds and it is 11 inches tall at the highest. I think it is a Murano piece.
Purchased from antique store.
Dear Dianne,
Thank you for your request. The presented object is a Murano glass design vase probably made in the second half of the 20th century in Italy Venice. The glass was blown in two layers. One transparent and one amber colored layer. The amber colored layer is additionally decorated with a yellowish-greenish swirl. As a last design step the surface of the vase was etched to evocate a frosted effect.
The triangular shape, the smoothe form, the colors, and the frost effect is typical for glass design of the 1970s. Also, the sharp cut bottom is a hint for a late dating.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 100 to 200 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
