Thanks, Melissa, for getting back to me. The connection between Alfredo Barbini is reasonable but this could have been made by others so I've worded it in such a way as to suggest that. Regardless, the style is a little fussy for tastes today, which is reflected in the valuation. You're all set otherwise.
Thank you. I am happy with that price. Out of curiosity, because I am very new to Murano and it’s history. This is actually my first piece. Do you know if Barbini signed work for that collection, with the milk glass and gold?
Great. I'm aware of some pieces but most are not. However, without a signature, there is always some question to the attribution. It comes with the territory.
If you are beginning to collect Murano, I would suggest you look for pieces that are signed. There are always lots of pieces offered at auction that are signed, and usually sell for smaller prices than what you'd pay for in a gallery. If one wants to work with a gallery, it's important to do the homework to make sure the gallery doesn't sell fakes or reproductions.
Best of luck to you!
Thank you so much. If all goes well with this piece selling, I will gladly have a few more to send you for appraisal and sale (not Murano but with signatures).
Wonderful. We look forward to helping however we can. Have a great weekend.
I can’t find a signature at all. With more research I am thinking Alfredo Barbini. I know he did sign some work, I just can’t seem to find white milk and gold signed.
