Thanks, Terry, for the additional photo and your thoughts on what the signature says. I've just checked the artist databases we have access to and don't find any painter by that name but it's not an Asian name so I am quite sure this was done in the late 19th Century by a Western artist at a time when all things Oriental were in vogue.
