This item was acquired from a closing down sale in Melbourne. I am confident that the item is not a print, it is not smooth like a print would be and rather has a bit of a rough texture. The painting smells similar to a crayon smell or something similar. Just want to find out what its worth and who made it. Their are initials in the bottom right corner in black ink. Not sure who they belong too.
I dont know anything about it. Their are Initials IF in the bottom right corner, i beleive these initials to be marked in black ink or something similar.
This is indeed a framed color print reproduction with texturized areas of the surface made to appear like an original painting. If you look closely at the image of the signature you provided, you will see a dot matrix pattern on the surface that is indicative of machine printing. It was common throughout the 20th century for publishers to print images of paintings and sell them as decorative wall art through decorator, furniture and framing shops. The vase, in the original painting, of which this is not, was done in encaustic which is a form of painting with beeswax. With just initials, the author cannot be definitively stated and was likely a commissioned commercial artist and not a fine artist. I can assure 110% that this is indeed a print.
