I am seeking an appraisal on the Asian art depicted in the attached photos. I did close up photos of the symbols in the hopes it contains information that would be helpful. Age is over 50 years. Condition excellent. It currently is matted and framed so I do not know what is on the back side. I’m told it is on rice paper. If you are interested, please let me know. If not, perhaps you could recommend a firm in the area. I’m trying to stay local in my preliminary search. Sincerely, James Wolf 7300 Sun Island Dr. South Pasadena FL 33707 508-826-3660

Hello James,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the delay in your appraisal and thank you for your patience. The item presented appears to be woodblock by Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重, Japanese, 1797–1858) titled "Outside Sakurada (「江戸名所, Soto Sakurada)" from the series titled "Famous Places in Edo (外さくら田」, Edo meisho)." The print was publisher by Yamadaya Shôjirô and dates to 1854. Further examination of the print outside the frame may determine its authenticity. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable woodblock by Utagawa Hiroshige. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
Hi James,
That is not unusual. It is quite common.
Hello, I removed this item from the frame and matte. There is nothing to indicate how many prints were made and where this one would be in the order. Is this unusual?
