3 feet wide 18 inch deep 42 in tall
My great uncle brought it back from overseas at least 60 years old
Hi Blake,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This would have been made for export to the Western market and there is a fairly strong market at the moment for Chinese export items.
Is the applied decoration made of stone?
Thanks to confirm,
Delia
Thanks! Many of these were made with hardstone - some are naturally colored, many are more synthetic but regardless they make a great look. There are restrictions to selling ivory (it depends by state and country) so we typically just say "bone" to cover all bases...
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A Chinese export style black lacquer and hardstone and bone-inlaid lift-top bar
Made for the Western market, probably mid 20th Century
Of rectangular section with rounded corners, fitted with a lift-top panel that reveals a well for bottles, with cabinet doors on the front and sides, all ornamented with applied figures in landscapes, on a black lacquer ground, all on shaped bracket feet.
42 inches tall, 36 inches wide, 18 inches deep
PROVENANCE: Inherited from uncle who purchased it overseas approximately 60 years ago.
$500-800*
