I’m not really sure exactly what it is which is why I’m reaching out to you. It might be a Japanese Satsuma vase but I do not know. Hoping you can help with that. There are no markings other than a marker mark but that could be recent by a seller.
10.5 inches tall x 9 inches in diameter around the widest part
Hello, this item is a Japanese style ceramic vase with applied dragon handles and molded relief decoration, most likely produced in Japan during the early to mid 20th century, approximately 1920s to 1950s. The dark ground glaze with metallic silver tone floral decoration and sculptural handles reflects export oriented decorative wares rather than traditional Satsuma production, which typically uses a cream crackle glaze with enamel painting. The unmarked base and visible kiln finish are consistent with mass produced decorative export ceramics made for Western markets.
From a market perspective, Japanese export decorative vases of this size, around 10 inches tall, generally sell in the secondary market between 100 USD and 250 USD depending on condition and decorative appeal.
