Authentic Vintage Ivory Coast Korhogo Cloth with Trade Beads (c. 1960-1970)
13 August 2026
Description

This is an original hand-woven Korhogo cloth from the Senoufo people in the northern region of Ivory Coast. It is estimated to be over 55-60 years old (mid-20th century). It is constructed from narrow-strip woven, hand-spun raw cotton (raw unbleached white cotton). The symbolic iconography (spirals, chevrons, giraffe, palm trees) is hand-painted using traditional, organic, fermented river mud and plant pigments. The lower fringe is hand-twisted cotton cord adorned with handmade, powdered glass swirled trade beads (traditional Chevron/swirl patterns). The colors are stable but feature a natural vintage patina. The vertical strip joints feature hand-stitching.
