52 inches by 26 inches silk tapestry. The previous owner had a cloth backing attached to it, along with the fringe, to keep it sturdy and in better shape for hanging. The item is in pristine condition, with no marks, tears or smears anywhere. I can not find a signature or marking anywhere to denote where this was made. She told me she bought this in France.
This was a gift, along with 2 similar items, from a close friend in Quebec. She told me they were antiques, but I am not sure with this particular type of tapestry.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a french machine woven tapestry by JP Panneaus Paris gobelins, most likely dating to the 1970s or later. The design is based on Fragonard or Boucher motifs, a pasticcio of decorative rococo shepherd scenes and e.g. the painting "the swing" by Fragonard. The colours of the tapestry in your possession are still vivid and not faded as is so often the case. The estimate is based on recent auction results of similar items offered or sold. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.
