Inherited from my mother and I'm not sure what it is made of besides wood. There are distinctive markings under the desk which I've attached below. Condition is excellent and all parts are in working order.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Plantation desks, originating from the 18th and 19th centuries, were practical for plantation owners, facilitating management and correspondence tasks. The form usually includes a tall bookcase (which yours does not have) and was so popular it was reproduced well into the 20th century as yours was. Functional and fashionable, it combines looks and utility well, though the market for these is less in demand than it used to be.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Classical revival style walnut plantation desk

Of rectangular section with hinged fold-over top opening to a divided interior with pull-out writing surface, over a long drawer, all raised on turned tapering legs. Bears the original foil factory label.
31 inches high, 33 inches wide, (depth)
