This was at my grandmother's apartment of 50 years in Manhattan. She passed away in 2012 at age 97. I cannot find markings on it. I don't know anything about them outside they are in good condition
Twin
Hi Robert,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Antique - even vintage - beds are tremendously hard to sell - because most are not up to code and/or only fit smaller mattresses than what current consumers are using. I would be very surprised if this sold for more than $50 at auction (that might even be optimistic) though it certainly looks to be a genuine mid/late 19th Century Victorian spool-turned bed.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Victorian turned walnut spool twin or daybed
American or English, mid/late 19th Century
Both ends (headboard/footboard) with spool turnings and acorn finials at one end, the bottom with slat supports, on casters
(DIMENSIONS)
CONDITION: Possibly lacking some bottom supports
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$40-60*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
