This is a 12" tall German "Regimental" beer stein. The body of the stein is a molded ceramic with mottos and hand painted decoration along with the names of the members of the Kaiser's 10th Infantry Regiment. The cast figural lid is pewter. It is recommended to hold this up to a light and look through the bottom from the inside, as there usually lithophane images. If the lithophane is erotic, then this is a vintage reproduction and not an original period piece. In addition on newer reproductions the inside of Regimental steins have a bump, as seen in the images on yours, whereas true period stein handles are smooth on the inside. The rosters on originals are done with rank and last name, no first names and there should also be the name of the stein owner on this elsewhere that is a match to one of the names on the roster. Due to the bump on the inside of the handle, this is possibly a reproduction. The uniforms and military gear depicted on the soldiers should be checked against the flags and Regiment name to ensure they are a match and if necessary in-depth research to match the military records of members of the 10th Infantry from 1890 - 1914 could be checked to see if there is an authentic match. The estimate here ranges from the low end, being a later reproduction to the maximum being an authentic period stein.
