Metal sword, was told it was a Masonic sword. 32.5" long with accompanying 28.5" scabbard. Missing grip on handle.
Inherited from grandparents approximately 30 years ago. Hung as decoration in there house, but before that unknown.
Dear Walter,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you have a look if there are any hallmarks on the blade and make an image of them?
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Walter,
Thank you for the additional images and your patience.
The presented object appears to be a sword with the measurements of 32.5" inches length. This sword was made in the United States in the late 19th century for a member of a Freemason Lodge.
This piece is in bad condition and the handle is missing.
An estimation would be between 30 to 50 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Georg, I apologize for the poor photo quality in the first set of pictures. Was able to get a few better shots and added them. I wasn't able to identify any hallmarks on the blade but I tried to get some pictures that showed the blade details better. Thank you.
