it is a rocking chair
it has been in the family for 100 yr
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a Windsor style rocking chair of the early 20th century. A large number of manufacturers produced these very popular rocking chairs. The rocking chair in your possession has a gentle curvature to the seat and hand-turned spindles. The higher than average number of spindles makes the rocking chair stand apart from the average Boston rocker. The faded illegible oval paper label and the stenciled production number unfortunately do not provide enough information to be able to identify the maker. The estimate is based on similar items sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade are usually higher and can vary. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.
