Dear Annette,
You have a bronze Chinese statue sand casted ( in two parts ). It is a cheaper way of making bronzes ( Circe Perdue is the more expensive way, in one piece ). Consequence of sand casting is that details are not very fine in general. This statue is made second half 20th century ( say around 1970 ). What is nice about the statue is his size and weight. Also the face of the buddha looks nice. Some buyers want an impressive statue and that is what this is. Statue is depicting Buddha with Lotus flower in the hand. The lotus represents different meanings in Buddhism. You can easily look the up on internet ( Google: Buddha with lotus flower )
